Nintendo DS vs. PSP

Now,most gamers often find themselves in a dilema,when buying a portable console.The two nominees are mostly Sony’s PSP and Nintendo DS.

Nintendo DS is a portable handheld console created by Nintendo.It was first released in 2004,and was sold in over million copies.The first thing you notice on the DS is that it is bulky,and a clamshell type of console.It features two 3” inch TFT LCD screens,one on the top and one on the bottom,while the down one is a touch screen,mostly used.Besides that you have your standard buttons (A,B,X,Y,Start-Select) the directional buttons,and a normal 3,5mm earphone jack.It has a 850mAh and it stands for about 10 hours of gameplay.The DS has two cartridge slots (GBA/DS) and uses a stylus for coordination on the touch screen,and has a built in Wi-Fi capabilities that allows players to battle other people around the world.

The games for the DS are probably the most innovative,and are pushing you to use your imagination fully.Developers say that it isn’t too hard to publish a game on the DS (so much for the Quality Logo),so you will be swarmed with low-leveled games.But,in all those games,there are gems that should be tried out.Such gems are released mostly every year (Zelda,Looney Tunes Duck Amuck,Cooking Mama…).In theory,every game for the DS is good,it’s just some a better.Finally,the DS is a great platform,full of awesome titles,just waiting to be tried out.

The PSP on the other hand,stands for it’s own specialty.The PSP is mostly used as a multimedia menager for browsing the web via Wi-Fi,playing videos,pictures,music and even high level graphic games.The PSP uses an XMB (Cross Media Bar) as sometihng like an OS.Via the XMB you can access all the capabilities of the PSP.It has a 4,3” TFT LCD screen which is 480×272 in pixels,32MB of internal memory + the Memory Stick Pro Duo slot for external memory (1,2,4,8 and 16GB),a battery of 2200mAh which allows about 4-6 hours of gameplay.

The PSP has a CPU processor that runs on 333Mhz which allows it’s games to have beautiful 3D graphics.The PSP also features Wi-Fi capabilities just like the DS,but it’s titles rarely support Wi-Fi.The games have graphics something between the PSX and the PS2,which is highly amazing.Titles like God of War,Need for Speed etc. really make the console stand out.

Looking at both consoles,they are somewhat matched.

If you are a teenager,looking for a multimedia console that has brutal titles,with no doubt you should go with the PSP.

If you are a teenager/kid who isn’t so much about browsing the web and playing violence filled games,but instead nice fun games,the right choice for you is the Nintendo DS.

Both Nintendo and Sony released a second,refurbished model of both consoles,and the next review will be about that.

Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2008 Review

Yu-Gi-Oh! is a decade running anime series,that aired on tons of television programs.Along with good animes,comes even better,video games.

Yugi and his trusty friends have been occupying the handheld system for a lot time.Today,next-gen handheld system are next.

Konami Inc. is mostly famous for it’s YGO! titles (alongside others),and has recently has released the newest sequel on the World Championship series,2008.

Equipped with over 2400 cards at you disposal,you are the main shot in the game.Summon,attack and pierce your way through various worlds,as you come to the ultimate challenge.Duel against familiar characters form the show until your hands dry off,or simply connect via Wi-Fi and do the same against real people.Watch you mascots rise in full glory,as you see the last seconds of your opponents Life Points.

The downside of this game,is that you must be the King of Duelists,in order to beat the game,since it requires long,blood sucking moments.

Looking at all the aspects,this is a fair game that stole the spotlight of its predecessor,and is constructed perfectly for fans of the show.

This game gets 7 god cards,out of 10.

EEE vs. EEE 900

In our first review,we talked about Sony’s PSP and the Asus EEE,but,due to high demand by our readers,we now review both EEE series 700 and 900 series!

”Asus EEE 900”

Now,as you might have known,Asus developed a second version of the EEE Mini-Laptop.This ”refurbished” version,has the same dimensions (A5 Book) but is updated at many points.The first thing you notice,is the bigger TFT LCD screen,at a total of 8.9-inch which is 1024×600 in pixels.Above the screen,you see a 1.3 megapixel webcamera,used for MSN/Skype services.It goes on the same processor clocked on 900Mhz,a doubled RAM Memory in total of 1GB,the battery is also updated and can last aprox. 3h and 30min. (an hour more then it’s predecessor)

The 900 model already comes with an integraded Windows XP,rather then the 700’s Xandros Linux.The only downside of the 900 version is the price,which goes on to $550.

As you have read,the 900 model is superior then 700 one,in every way.The screen is bigger,the configuration is doubled (and so is the price),it features a webcam.

The 900 is preferred to all who have enough money to give on it,and would use it strictly for business.Unlikely,700 big brother is taking all fame,for now that is.Asus recently announced a Asus EEE 1000,with an 10” screen,6-cell battery etc. More on that soon.

PSP vs. EEE

Ok,so this is one of those long,never ending discussions about comparing to portable gadgets.But,since i have time to spare,the discussion continues.

Looking at the Asus EEE,we have a portable mini-laptop,with size of an A5 book (which is small,really small).Besides that,the EEE has an 7” inch TFT LCD screen which is 800×480 pixels,a Intel Processor that runs on 900Mhx but is clocked at 577Mhz DDR2,512MB of RAM Memory,runs on a Linux Xandros that boots in aprox. 20-22 seconds,along with integraded Skype,MSN,YIM,AOL,AIM,GT instant messagers,a 4-cell Li-Lion 4400mAh,that runs on aprox. 2h and 50min.

Besides all of that,the Asus EEE (Easy PC) is fun,easy to use,portable device that can aid you wherever you go.It doesn’t have a hard drive,but it has 4 USB ports for external memory USB devices,or microSD slots.The pricing goes about US$399,which is a lot for a kiddy laptop.

Now,on the other hand,we have a Sony PlayStation Portable,gaming/multimedia device,equiped with an 4,3” inch TFT LCD screen which is 480×272 pixels in width and height,an Memory Stick Pro Duo slot,used for external memory,1800 mAh battery that will provide about 4-6 hours of gameplay, 4-5 hours of video playback, or 8-11 hours of audio,internal memory of 32MB,a CPU Processor that runs on 333Mhz.The PSP uses UMD’s for playing games (UniversalMediaDisc with memory of 1,8GB),and has an internal Wi-Fi Opera browser that goes full-screen.

Looking at a PSP,you are amazed.It is beautifully designed,with no flaws.Sony later on in October 2007 presented a PSP Slim and Lite,which has the same screen,a battery on 2200mAh,a doubled internal memory to 64MB,a different UMD slot,and is 33% lighter,and 19% slimmer then the first one.

By looking at both,they are pretty much evenly matched.They both play music with excellent sound,they both play movies,games,they both have Wi-Fi capabilities..

If you are a teenager,in need of music,good graphics,internet capabilities,you should with no doubt go with the PSP.

If you are an adult,you shouldn’t go with either.The Asus EEE is mostly constructed for people under 18,since the Xandros Linux OS is only for kids (though you can install Windows XP on it,but still).For an adult a bigger Laptop with bigger capabilities is the best option.
